UKOUG Apps – 5th – 7th December 2016

This December eBiz Answers will be attending/presenting and exhibiting at the UKOUG Apps 2016 which is being held in the ICC Birmingham UK. The UKOUG Applications Conference & Exhibition is the largest event that UKOUG delivers for this community and this year takes place between the 5th – 7th of December. Apps16 will feature an array of presentations which will range from end-users telling their stories to high level presentations covering the latest product roadmaps.

UKOUG Financials SIG – Thursday 25th February 2016

Join Andrew Bohnet, Senior Director at eBiz Answers as he presents ‘Find the issue before it’s a problem – using eBTax Analytics’ at this months UKOUG SIG Financials meeting.

In this session Andrew will demonstrate why it’s not all about the tax rate and the importance of designing your solution to be able to capture more information. Tuesday, 12 May 2015- Ensuring VAT Neutrality: Fraud, Avoidance, and Planning

Whilst the shift from income to consumption taxation has been a trend in OECD economies for some time, the financial crisis has undoubtedly accelerated this process. According to the OECD, after a period of relative stability between 1996 and 2008, the average standard rate of VAT started to rise after 2008, and it now stands at around 21.5%. Indeed between 1 January 2008 and 1 January 2014 a staggering 23, out of the 28 EU countries, changed their VAT rate structures during this period. These numbers demonstrate the extent to which countries turned to VAT policy in the wake of the economic and financial crisis. The reason is clear: confronted with high budget deficits and limited (or negative) economic growth, EU and OECD countries turned to VAT to collect extra revenue, without hampering economic growth. This focus on public finances, however, has brought numerous challenges for both taxpayers, and tax authorities. Against this background, the aim of this conference is to discuss VAT fraud, avoidance, and planning, in the context of ensuring the neutrality of the tax.

The conference will take place on 12 May 2015 between 10:00 and 18:30 at Durham Law School, in Durham, UK. The Law School is located at approximately 30 minutes by train from Newcastle Airport. The conference will be followed by the 3rd PhD Indirect Taxes Seminar, which will take place on 13 May 2015.

Oracle OpenWorld – 28th September to 2nd October 2014

September and October sees eBiz Answers attending Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco. The event being held from September 28th – October 2nd will see some of the brightest minds and most innovative ideas at the industry’s most important yearly conference.

This years’ conference sees our very own Andrew Bohnet hosting the ‘Tax Management SIG’ for which he is currently the Chair.

Andrew will also be presenting with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) on how RBS Automated its Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Tax Solution and Enhanced Functionality and reduced the risk of non-compliance. For nearly two and a half years, the tax solution was never signed off as the clients requirements were never truly met by the previous consultancies, including the ‘big four’. As the time started to run out before go live, eBiz Answers were called in and in just three weeks were able to achieve that allusive provisional sign off! This presentation will explain how this was achieved, what was enhanced, the importance of ‘a solution’ and the lessons learned.
